Food
James left his life as a fisherman when Jesus called him to be a fisher of men. He followed Jesus as one of his disciples until Jesus was crucified. James the Greater was chosen by Jesus to be one of the twelve apostles and was given the mission to spread the gospel of Jesus. Snack: Blue Jello with gummy fish and Goldfish crackers on the side.
Craft
James made a pilgrimage to Spain to spread the word. A pilgrimage is a journey that people make to help them to know God better. The journey frequently has limited food and involves walking a long distance. Sometimes when you walk a long distance without lots of talking to other people, you can hear God better than just sitting still. Pilgrims to the holy land would often wear scalloped or cockle shells on their clothing to symbolize their pilgrimage to God. They would also wear a wide brimmed hat used to keep the sun off. Craft: Paper Visors decorated with cockle shells. http://www.firstpalette.com/Craft_themes/Wearables/papervisor/papervisor.html
